Luis Suarez: We could have killed the game off with another goal

Barcelona striker Luis Suarez reflected on the defeat to Manchester City in a calm way. Despite leading 1-0, Luis Enrique’s side were beaten 3-1 in England.

“In the first half we could have killed the game off with another goal, but we’re aware that the opposition can play as well. But I think we have to be self critical with how we played in the second half,” he said.

The Uruguayan striker felt Pep Guardiola changed things up after the break: “In the second half [City] changed the system and the way the pressed. That surprised us.

“We have to take the good and the bad from the game. At 2-1 we had a really good chance to make it 2-2, but it’s difficult once it goes to 3-1. They were obliged to win as the home side, but from the first minute we approached the game in a good way.”

Despite the disappointment of the defeat, Luis Suarez says there will be no bad thoughts carried into the game at the Sanchez Pizjuan this weekend.

He concluded: “This won’t affect us at all. We’re here for this, to perform in every game and even more so at a club like Barca. We’ve lost, but now we have to forget it and think about Sevilla, which is an important game.”
