Luis Milla says Martin Montoya is as good as Dani Carvajal and Barcelona should not have signed Douglas

Former Spanish U21 coach Luis Milla talked about Martin Montoya, whom he worked with in the past.

Asked about the full-back's quality, he compared him to Real Madrid's Dani Cavajal and stated the difference between the two is that the latter has the confidence of his coach.

"Carvajal is from 93 and Montoya from the year 91. I had Montoya, I think they have a similar level, but Carvajal is given a chance," he told Esports COPE.

He also made it clear that if he was in the Barca sports management he would not have signed Douglas.

"I understand that when a player is signed, there is a level. If I had been in the sports management, I would not have bought him. I know Montoya knows his level and Alves, but at the moment, Douglas does not have that continuity," said Milla.

"I would have given the chance to fight to Montoya, who is a boy with a good mentality and his feet on the ground."

He also believes Enrique has chosen his full-backs.

"Luis Enrique has a clear idea, I think that Alves is the starter, the club has bought Douglas and in the background is Montoya. Who wants to go? That is a personal choice for each."
