Luis Figo on his exit from Barcelona and not being 'recognised'

"My experience at Barcelona was fantastic. I learned a new way of training, seeing football, playing," he started off explaining

Luis Figo gave an interview to La Liga's website in which he spoke about his time at Barcelona and Real Madrid.

"My experience at Barcelona was fantastic. I learned a new way of training, seeing football, playing. It was my first experience outside of Portugal and it could not have started better. Unfortunately it only lasted a year [with Johan Cruyff in charge], but after 20 years Johan is no longer there but his methods are well ahead of other people who are coaching. And this says everything about what Cruyff was about."

However he went on to claim that he was not fully recognised at the club. "In the end, if you're not feeling 100 per cent recognised for what you deliver, not by the fans but form those who manage the club, when you have other offers you consider making a change. That was what happened."
