Luis Enrique's perfect plan is off to a good start at Barça

Luis Enrique named an experimental side for the match against APOEL in the Champions League on Wednesday night, making nine changes from the side which played against Athletic Club last weekend.

The Asturian has now given everyone in his squad minutes this season, with the exception of Douglas and Jordi Masip, using 19 players from the first team and three more from Barça B.

Of the 22 players Luis Enrique, 21 have started at least one match - only Sandro hasn't begun a game, but he has appeared as a substitute in all four fixtures this season.

Lionel Messi and Munir El Haddadi have been the only 'untouchables', starting all four games under of Luis Enrique's era so far, while Claudio Bravo, Jeremy Mathieu, Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic have all started three times.

Those five, therefore, were handed a rest for the 1-0 win over APOEL.

The recipe Luis Enrique is using is very clear: maximum involvement, maximum tension and maximum self-confidence. He doesn't want any of his players to relax and he wants all of them to be ready to help the team when necessary.

Rotating the side is going to be key in keeping the squad in good physical condition and, when the moment arrives, Luis Enrique will not be scared to pick the youngsters if necessary and deserved.

A culture of hard work and meritocracy have been imposed at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training ground.

Minutes are expensive and 'Lucho' needs all of his footballers to be at 100 percent - even if that means handing debuts to players in the Champions League.

And, to date, the method is working: Four wins, 360 minutes, 22 footballers and zero goals conceded

The perfect plan.
