Luis Enrique's message to Pep Guardiola's critics

The Barcelona boss has backed his Man City counterpart despite a six game winless streak

Luis Enrique and Pep Guardiola have a good friendship. In the preview for the Champions League game last week that was evident. The two played together for Barcelona and are now managing two of Europe’s best sides.

Luis Enrique was asked on Friday about the problems foreign owners bring, as is the case with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. It was in reference to the criticism the Catalan coach is receiving after going six games without a win.

“I would say don’t worry about the critics [to Guardiola],” the Barca boss told the City coach. “He will win titles this year with the football he was playing at the beginning of the season and with the football he’s always played.”

He added: “These critics and this criticism will always appear because people are bothered by the same people winning all the time. City will win playing good football and putting on a show.”

Meanwhile, he was asked about whether he could one day see Pep Guardiola managing Real Madrid, given information which appeared in a book this week that Los Blancos wanted to appoint him previously. “That’s a question for Guardiola, not me,” he limited himself to saying.
