Luis Enrique's had "exceptional year" personally but won't value Barça's season

Luis Enrique wouldn't give a rating to his first few months in charge of Barcelona, but he did talk about how 2014 has been as a year for him.

"It has been an exceptional year," he said at his press conference on Friday previewing Barça's game against Cordoba. "I had the chance to train Celta Vigo in the Primera and keep them in the Primera, with a magnificient squad. Then, after, I returned to my home. This is paradise, like going to Disneyland."

On the eve of his side's last game of the year on Saturday, Barça's boss did avoid valuing the work of his current team. "I don't have the sensations that the team has last confidence," he continued. "We are in our first season and this is a new project, in evolution, with ups and downs."

Despite that, he did admit that they are "aware of what it means to train Barça, that there is little time and that the demand is for immediate results."

The Asturian refused to rate things, though. "I won't rate the season, I will rate the season when it finishes," he repeated. "My work is not to give ratings, anyway. Of course I would like to finish the year as leaders, but there is another team [Real Madrid] that has been better and we're not going to give up now because we are not leaders."

He wouldn't even enter into discourse about where the team needs to improve. "It's a very complex sport and it's evident that we need to improve many things," he stated. "But in all the competitions we are in a good position. There are collective aspects that can improve, but you can't just wave a magic wand."

And Luis Enrique was still insisting that the result against Getafe was unfair. "If one of the chances goes in..." he hypothesised. "I have already said I wasn't unsatisfied with the performance. There is no need to dramatise the situation if you win or if you draw."

Here are some of the other things the Barça boss had to say on Friday afternoon:

On Cordoba: "We've prepared for the game as we always do. We expect the rival to be defensive, trying to create problems on the counter attack. We will try to make sure they don't have many chances.

"They lacked luck under Chapi [Ferrer] when they couldn't win at the start of the season. With [Miroslav] Djukic they won against Athletic and have drawn several games. They can do damage to us on the break. We have to the ball in their half, but they can cause problems with Fidel and Borja on the wings."

On Eric Abidal: "Time passes for everyone. I value what he has done as a player a lot and what he has done as a person; I wish him a lot of luck [in the future]."

On Neymar: "He's trained with the team and is ready to play. We will see tomorrow if he is on the list and if he will play."

On Real Madrid/Club World Cup: "No [I won't see it]. I'll be going home, to Gijon, and my car doesn't have a TV so I won't be able to watch it. But, as always, may the best team win."

On CAS verdict: "I'm not thinking about their decision [on transfer ban] beccause I can't control it. I focus on the present."

On Puyol tribute: "Personally, I don't like them, but if the club think these things are good then, without doubt, Puyol deserves it for what he has done. Let's see what's decided - but it's nothing to do with me."
