Luis Enrique: If you underperform at a club like Barca, you're executed

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique was delighted to steer the Catalan giants to the La Liga title during his first season in charge of the club.

With his jacket soaking wet from the celebrations on the Vicente Calderon pitch after the win against Atletico Madrid on Sunday, Luis Enrique explained: "I began this era 10 months ago, with many changes and after one year without a title...

"We have tried to do the best we possibly can and now we are just missing two titles.

"To win a league is the result of months of work. I've liked how we have played today at a ground which is practically impossible [to win at]. The team deserved their victory.

"Now everyone who has formed part of the club this season, above all the fans, can enjoy [the league title]."

Luis Enrique, who had ended up in the shower, commented that his celebration had been reticent.

"I prefer calmer celebrations," he continued. "We will rest for a few days and then begin training again on Wednesday, with the Copa del Rey final the next aim, which is a really attractive challenge.

"We have three games left, two finals. We will have to see what is best to win the other two trophies."

Once again, however, he refused to speak about his future: "There is no way that someone who trains a big club will not receive criticism. If you under-perform, you're executed.

"I knew that and it's something that I understand. It's logical. Until the season finishes, I will not speak about [my future]."
