Luis Enrique: "We want to win all the titles"

Luis Enrique was quizzed on various topics of interest during his first press conference of pre-season.

One departure which had not been expected was that of Brazilian full-back Dani Alves.

He joined Juventus on a free transfer, and the loss of last season's regular starter in the right-back position begged the question of whether the club would seek to replace him.

The Barça coach put the matter to rest on Thursday, when he said:

"The departure of Alves surprised me. We will miss him, and I wish him the best. He was affectionate, joyful, excessively so at times, but 100% professional.

"We signed Aleix (Vidal) a year ago, and Sergi Roberto has played there. The position is covered well."

Nolito was thought to be the Barcelona manager's preferred choice to strengthen the forward line, but 'Lucho' declined to discuss the issue:

"I only speak of those who are here. If he is not here, it is because another club signed him."

Questioned about Turkish international Arda Turan, who has endured a tough year so far, for both club and country, Luis Enrique had no doubts:

"I am very happy with his performances. I value what players bring on and off the pitch.

"He is a special player, I want him to continue with us. He will improve his level, it's just a question of time.

"Players are not machines, they need to adapt."

The coach was very positive when analysing his squad for the new season:

"We are always looking to improve, adding nuances. We look to evolve and be unpredictable, as every team does. We can not forget about the defensive aspect of the team, which was key at the end of last season.

"We have a very good squad, with Denis Suarez and Sergi Roberto who can play in a variety of positions. The squad was already very good, but we have strengthened and improved.

"We want to win all the titles."
