The Argentine has played almost every minute in 2017 so far

Lucho was asked if he intends to take measures to keep him fresh

Barcelona manager Luis Enrique spoke about Leo Messi during Saturday's press conference to preview his side's game against Valencia, which will take place on Sunday at Camp Nou. It is the 28th league game of the 2016/17 season.

During the press conference, Luis Enrique was asked if he has any plans to manage Messi's minutes during the final stage of the season, with the club still in three competitions after a period in which the Argentine has hardly missed a second.

Luis Enrique said it's something he's thought about, but also pointed out that it may not be possible.

"He's got the same numbers as last season, maybe a little more because last year he was injured for two months," Luis Enrique said about the amount of football Messi has played.

"It's analysed and thought about, but it is difficult to go without the best player in the world."

Messi's played almost everything this season. He has been a substitute in two leage games, while he's been taken off on three occasions. He's also featured heavily in the Copa del Rey, the Champions League and the Spanish Super Cup.
