Luis Enrique ready for his first big week as Barcelona coach

Barcelona toppled Eibar in the first test of an eight day period which will also see Ajax come to Camp Nou and the Barça head to the Bernabeu.

Since Luis Enrique's era as boss began, the team have responded to all the challenges presented to them, with the exception of the Champions League match against Paris Saint-Germain - the club's first and only defeat of the season.

It was the first big ask of the year, but they fell short at the Parc des Princes.

The team demonstrated character to react after going behind in the match, although they didn't give a good defensive performance against a strong PSG outfit.

Now, Luis Enrique is tackling his first "big week" as Barça coach.

Obviously, from January onwards, with the Copa del Rey and Champions League in full flow, there will be plenty more, but this one could be key for the immediate future of the team.

First up is Ajax in a game of vital importance after the loss in Paris. Three points against the Dutch side will ease Barça's hopes of qualifying for the knockout stages of Europe's top competition.

After that, of course, comes the Clasico.

The game at the Bernabeu is important in a symbolic sense and in a sporting one - the result could mark the sensations that Barça and Real Madrid will have for the next few weeks.

With Madrid four points back, a defeat would still leave Barça ahead of their rivals in la Liga.

However, a hypothetical victory in the Spanish capital would create a seven point gap and leave Carlo Ancelotti's side with very little room for error.

Luis Enrique is now experiencing his first big moment in charge of the club.

Evidentally there are no titles up for grabs, but if Barça come through this important exam the confidence will increase in a project that, until now, has ran fairly smoothly.
