Luis Enrique once again leaves his Barcelona future up in the air

Lucho is enjoying himself but admits there are parts of the job which take their toll on him

Barça TV will air an interview with Luis Enrique on Saturday night. The coach speaks about his future and the gap between Barcelona and Real Madrid in the league.

Asked if he sees himself as Barcelona manager for many years, Luis Enrique admitted that he didn’t know, even though he’s aware he’s at the best possible club.

“Well, to be honest, I’m not sure,” he responded when questioned on his long-term plans.

“I don’t have any doubt that I am at the best team in the world, the best club, with the best players, in my home, with my family here and winning things, enjoying myself a lot.

“But there’s also another part of this tough profession, which I struggle with, which has negative connotations and I will have to assess with regards to the coming seasons.”

Luis Enrique is focused on the present instead: “I have time and the club are by my side. We continue making plans and preparing for the immediate future.”

Barça end the year three points behind Madrid despite having played a game more. ‘Lucho’, though, is convinced the club, who have won the last two league titles can turn things around.

He added: “In La Liga we’ve got a disadvantage in terms of the gap with the leader, but the objective is to get closer and I think we’re capable of turning the situation around.”
