Luis Enrique: Lionel Messi will remain Barcelona's penalty taker

Luis Enrique has confirmed that Lionel Messi will continue to take Barcelona’s penalties, despite his latest miss in the 4-1 win over Levante on Sunday. 

It was the second penalty Messi has missed this season — his first was in the opening game of the la Liga campaign against Athletic Club — and a worrying trend is beginning to emerge. 

He has now missed over 20 percent of the career penalties he’s taken for the club, but Luis Enrique remains unconcerned. 

“There’s no problem [with Messi],” Enrique said at a press conference previewing Wednesday night’a match against Celta Vigo. 

“He will continue to take the penalty kicks and that is that — he is the best.”
