Luis Enrique: Lionel Messi is Barcelona's leader
Luis Enrique gave his press conference on Monday previewing the Champions League game against BATE Borisov. “We are only one point ahead of BATE and Bayer Leverkusen, we are not expecting it to be easy. We are focused on improving our performance and overcoming the rival.”
With respect to the role of Neymar, Luis Enrique took the responsibility of the Brazilian's shoulders. “We try to play as a block. We have our leader, Leo Messi, and we are not constantly looking for leaders.”
The Asturian coach took advantage of the press conference to praise Sergi Roberto. “He is a player that I know perfectly. He’s a wonderful guarantee for any manager and I am really happy with him.”
One of Barcelona’s problems this season has been there defending, but Luis Enrique is placing too much emphasis on that. “The important thing is the trajectory across the season. We are aware what we have to improve.”
And he added: “When we have a defensive situation, where we are conceding too many goals, in no case is the problem in defence, is the whole team and the manager. We try to look for solution collectively and we are working on that every week.”
