Luis Enrique leaves the door open for Vidal to re-enter his plans

The Barcelona coach says there's still a chance the defender can have a career at the club

Luis Enrique sent a message to Aleix Vidal during his pre-game press conference for Saturday’s game between Barcelona and Sporting Gijon.

He stuck to the same line as the last few weeks, although this time he left the door open for the right-back to reverse the situation he’s currently going through.

The Asturian coach said that other players have been through similar moments and then finally made their way into his plans. That’s the case with Sergi Roberto who, in this sense, is perhaps the most significant.

“[Vidal’s] training well and trying to rectify the situation,” Luis Enrique said.

“It’s already happened with various players that they weren’t in my plans and then ended up being regulars. If there’s a manager open to situations changing, it’s me.”

Luis Enrique also said that his “decisions speak for themselves” which presumably means not calling up Vidal since the defeat to Alaves is an example of his disappointment with the player.

The Barça boss also referred to the player’s Instagram messages in recent days: “It’s his life and he can decide to have Instagram of whichever social networks he wants.”
