FC Barcelona coach Luis Enrique had no doubts about defending Neymar and the rest of his players against a campaign which has accused them of faking and provoking, and seen them receive a huge number of yellow cards.
Asked about if Neymar was booked too much, Lucho responded “It’s a fact that our players are the players who get fouled the most and yet get the most punished for the least fouls.”
The coach then added “first there was a campaign in which they said that my players were provokers. Many media that started this campaign are the same ones that are now saying that our players get booked too much. We should keep trying to play good football and make a spectacle.”
Lucho, asked if his players lacked respect, said: “I can only praise my players. This season they have to come with a lot of aspects in games which they cannot control. I insist that the same ones who were doing one campaign are now doing the opposite, and to end the issue, it ends by saying ‘I prefer not to focus on things I can’t control’.”
