Luis Enrique: I'm happy with the result against a team of this magnitude

Luis Enrique declared after Barcelona's 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao that he was pleased overall with the performance but mistakes were still made that could have cost his team.

Ivan Rakitic nodded home a header after 21 minutes to give the Blaugrana their second league win of the season to keep pace with Las Palmas and Real Madrid at the top of La Liga.

"I'm happy with the result against a team of this magnitude and it's a result that has strengthened us," Enrique said.

"Our start to the season has been similar to the end of the last campaign, with everyone hooked on the drama and wanting to set the pace to keep us top [of the league].

"There were too many mistakes at the beginning, I don't know whether that was because of us or the success of Athletic.

"Although I would have preferred to have more control in the attacking areas, we were very successful and focused to achieve a great physical effort."

Barça's next game in La Liga is against Alaves on September 10 and with players such as Andres Iniesta and Neymar to return, the season looks already promising for the Spanish champions.

"Although we lack [certain] players, I see a great team, a great squad eager to compete," Enrique concluded.
