Luis Enrique hails "not human" forward Lionel Messi

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique hailed Lionel Messi after the Argentine forward's treble against Sevilla saw him become the top goalscorer in the history of la Liga as Sevilla were hammered 5-1.

After defeats to Real Madrid and Celta Vigo and a sloppy win against Almeria, doubts had surfaced about the direction of the club. They answered those doubts emphatically on Saturday night, though, with Messi particularly impressive.

"I have never seen a player like Messi before, and I've seen many," Luis Enrique said in his post-game press conference. "When I see him in training, sometimes I think that he may not be human."

Messi's antics on the pitch took the attention away from a week of speculation off it. However, the Barca boss was still asked about his star player's future, although he had very little to say on the matter.

"Doubts about Messi's future?" he said. "I won't discuss unfounded speculation like that. I live for today and today we have the best player in history here at Barcelona."

While Messi was breaking records, though, Luis Suarez extended his streak to four games without a goal at his new club - although he has created four goals since making his debut against Real Madrid last month.

It's a matter of time until the goals come, though, according to Luis Enrique.

"The goals will come, I have no doubt about that," he stated. "We're fortunate to have such a generous forward here, he has given many great assists already. But he is a goal scorer and the goals will come."

Overall, Luis Enrique was happy with the performance; not just before the goals either, but because of what he felt was a good defensive performance against a Sevilla side who had started the season well.

"I think we played a complete game tonight," he explained. "Not just in the final third. In defence I felt we were incredibly good."
