Lionel Messi's father Jorge is now in Barcelona for son's contract talks

There are various aspects to be considered, with the first one, the sporting side, going well

Lionel Messi's father and agent, Jorge Messi, landed on Wednesday in Barcelona with the objective of meeting Josep Maria Bartomeu in the coming days.

The presence of the Argentine crack's father in the Catalan capital shows that contract talks are imminent, with his deal set to end in 2018.

Until now first contact had been made by telephone between Bartomeu and Jorge. A meeting is set to take place before the Christmas break, with Messi's deal high on Barcelona's agenda.

There are various aspects to be considered, with the first one, the sporting side, going well. Neymar has seen his deal renewed while Luis Suarez is close to penning a contract until 2022, keeping the best attack in the world together.

The second point is an economic one. The club will offer Messi a salary that meets his ability as a player, making sure he is the best paid player in the world ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo, who recently renewed. In Barcelona they are convinced that the economic side will not be a problem.

Barcelona want Messi to follow Iniesta in being a one club man. However economic giants like PSG have not given up on trying to sign the forward.
