Lionel Messi: Neymar will be the best player in the world one day

Barcelona and Gillette have reached a sponsorship agreement in Latin America which sees Leo Messi become an ambassador.

The striker was on hand on Thursday to address the media at the launch of the partnership. 

Antoni Rossich, Barcelona's director general and Alexandra Vegas, general manager of Gillette in Latin America, were present.

Barcelona's forward said that his Brazilian strike partner Neymar will one day be the best player in the world.

"You never know what will happen in football," explained Messi. "But I think Neymar will be the best in the world because of his quality and attributes.

"We are playing closer together on the pitch than last season. Neymar is a great player and it's a pleasure to play with him. We have a good relationship. He's a great guy and we get on well both on and off the pitch." 

Messi also said that he was not competing with Cristiano Ronaldo, who was said to be annoyed by chants of the Argentine's name during Real Madrid's clash with Ludogorets. 

"I'm not competing against Cristiano, I just do my job and I'm not competing with anyone. I just want to win trophies.

"I don't know where I stand in world football, I don't even think about it, just try to keep improving. I only think about playing." 

He also said that Luis Enrique had given him total freedom in this Barcelona side, with Messi operating behind two forwards. 

"The coach told me to move wherever I want. More through-balls can be played when you have two forwards in front of you."
