Lionel Messi breaks another Telmo Zarra record with Depor strike

Leo Messi keeps breaking records and he's taken another off Zarra - the player he beat to become the all-time top scorer in Spain

Lionel Messi has hit a new record in La Liga with his goal against Deportivo de la Coruna. A goal that took him just three minutes to score after coming on from the bench in the second half.

His strike was his 180th in 176 games at Camp Nou. With this goalscoring balance, according to Mister Chip, he has become the top scoring player at home in the history of the Spanish top flight. He beats a record from Telmo Zarra, who had 179 goals at home.

This is the ranking:

  •         Messi 180 goals
  •         Zarra 179
  •         Di Stéfano 151
  •         Quini 151
  •         Cristiano Ronaldo 150

With this goal against Deportivo, No 14 in 17 games against them, Messi also has nine goals in his eight games this season. A good total, achieved despite the injury problem that has been keeping him out recently.
