Also within the list of candidates was Barça youth team player Carles Alena, but his goal against Roma in the UEFA Youth League garnering only one per cent of the vote.

In addition, the best Save of the Season will be announced during the UEFA Gala with neither Marc-Andre ter Stegen or former Barça goalkeeper Claudio Bravo nominated for the award.

The Best Player in Europe will also be awarded to either Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale or Antoine Griezmann - most notably, no Blaugrana players made the final three.
