He has criticised the way some of the Barça players behaved during the game against Valencia

The president of La Liga Javier Tebas said at the league’s annual gala on Monday that the most serious thing to occur in the game between Barcelona and Valencia was the bottles being thrown at the players, but he said there were certain attitudes from the players which he didn’t like.

In a clear nod towards some of the members of Barça’s first team squad, Tebas affirmed that “you have to go in order and the first and most serious thing is the bottle [incident]. That’s the most serious thing which occurred, but some of the conduct from some of the players is not what I like [to see].’

The president didn’t want to clarify which actions he was referring to in concrete, but did situate them at the end of the game. “What happened at the end I did not like,” he added.

“A few years ago I condemned Cristiano Ronaldo’s actions towards a referee and what the players must try to do is to maintain their sportsmanship at all times. Some of the conduct I did not like,” he reiterated.

Tebas didn’t say if he will look into future sanctions for players that provoke the public and said “that has to be reflected in the referee’s report. If in Spain we had the benefit of using video [replays], that’s a play which could be reinterpreted after by the Competition Committee.”
