Levante prepare to face their worst nightmare... it's Lionel Messi

Levante will need to be wary of Barcelona forward Lionel Messi this Sunday, the player who has scored the most goals against them in their 10 seasons spent in the Primera Division.

Messi has notched nine goals in matches against Levante, who are currently bottom of the league, which is one more than former Atletico Madrid and Villarreal striker Diego Forlan.

Both Cristiano Ronaldo and Ruud van Nistelrooy have scored six -- a number matched by former Barcelona player Cayetano Re.

Last season, Messi scored twice against Levante in a 7-0 win at Camp Nou on the first weekend of the season.

It was the third consecutive campaign in which he had scored against the Granotes after scoring two at the Ciutat Valencia in a 4-0 win in 2012-13 and in both games between the sides in 2011-12 (one in a 5-0 in Catalonia and two in a 2-1 win in Valencia).

His first goals against Levante arrived in 2007-08, when he contributed goals in a 4-1 away win and a 5-1 home win.

After opening his account for the season against Elche in the first game, he's yet to score since, but history suggests he will find his shooting boots again this weekend.
