L'Equipe: Barça agree 30 million euro fee for Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti

FC Barcelona have reached a definitive agreement with Lyon for centre-back Samuel Umtiti. According to French newspaper L’Equipe, the two clubs have agreed a transfer worth 30 million euros, including variables.

Barça began talks with the Ligue 1 club several weeks ago and, despite their first offer being rejected, they have finally been able to strike a deal on an economic level.

The defender has played an important role in the operation, given that from the very first moment Barça expressed their interest he has put pressure on Lyon and their president, Jean-Michel Aulas, to negotiate with the Catalan club.

Meanwhile, Lyon announced on Wednesday morning the signing of central defender Nicolas N’Koulou, who was also interesting Espanyol, and it was aniticpated that would speed up Umtiti's departure.

The agreement could be made official in the coming hours and Barça president Josep Maria Bartomeu may even announce the deal when he makes a public appearance on Thursday.

France international Umtiti, 22, will complete his move to Camp Nou once his participation in the European Championships with his country is over.
