Nice deny that Seri has a €40 million release fee

Barça want the player, who is keen to join the club

Signing Jean Michel Seri from Nice may be more difficult than Barça initially expected. Barça have agreed a four year contract with the player but Nice are denying that the player has a €40 million release fee.

L’Équipe claims they have been informed by Nice that the €40 million release clause expired on 15 July and that Seri is now worth more than €40 million, although the club have not put a price on the player. And Nice know Barça are desperate and that time is running out.

It remains to be seen whether Barça are willing to negotiate for the player or whether €40 million is the maximum they are willing to pay for the Ivorian who is also attracting interest from PSG and Arsenal.

It’s shaping up to be a busy week for Barça as they look to finalise two or three signings to bring the squad up to the standard required.
