Various clubs remain interested in the Brazilian full-back

Alves has proven this week that he's still the best in his position

Dani Alves's departure from Barcelona is on its way to becoming a real ordeal. In sporting terms it's already been made clear that the Blaugrana have been harmed by allowing him to leave without replacing him. And economically it is on its way to becoming a ruinous piece of business, too.

That's because the fine season the Brazil right-back is having has made him one of the most wanted players on the market. A number of clubs are keen to sign him. Juventus, in principle, do not plan to sell, but Alves has a good reputation and Premier League clubs Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea are all weighing up the situation. He joined Juve for free and the Italian club could to the deal of the century.

THE CLAUSE

Alves joined Juve from Barça for free due to a clause he'd signed in his most recent contract renewal. It stipulated he could leave for free if he had an offer before June 8 last summer. And he accpeted an offer from Juve, providing what he called a 'classy punch' to the Barça board, who he felt had not treated him as he deserved.

His numbers in Italy have been spectacular -- including two assists in this week's Champions League win over Monaco -- and he will be one of the key parts of Allegri's side if they go on to win an historic treble.

Juve are interested in renewing Alves's contract, but they're also not closing the door to any offers. He signed a two-year deal so still has one year to go in Turin. And various clubs are interested in his situation. It would be curious if Juve are the club to sell him when Barcelona could not sell him despite him having time to run on his Camp Nou contract.

Alves is happy in Turin, but he, too, is not closing his eyes to the possiblity of one more adventure at the top level. And there will be offers.
