Luis Enrique's assistant is the first option for Celta chief Carlos Mouriño

He knows the club well after coaching there with Luis Enrique during the 2013-14 season

Barcelona's assistant coach Juan Carlos Unzue is close to taking over at Celta Vigo ahead of the 2017-18 season. Unzue, it is claimed in Faro de Vigo, is the candidate that Celta president Carlos Mourino most wants to bring to replace Eduardo Berizzo, who has decided he will not stay on at the club.

Unzue was at Celta in 2013-14 under Luis Enrique and their excellent work at Balaidos caused Barcelona to give them the call between 2014-17.

Lucho has decided to leave and take a sabbatical and Unzue feels ready to take the step up and become a first team coach. The Navarran, who has previously coached both Numancia and Racing Santander for brief periods, was a contender for the Barcelona job but eventually they decided to plump for Valverde.
