Jordi Alba: It's a monumental error by the referee, I could see it was in!

Even though he scored the goal which earned Barcelona a point, Jordi Alba criticised the decision not to give the goal scored by Lionel Messi in the first half. 

Messi's shot was fumbled over the line by Neto, but the goal was not given. 

"It was a monumental error by the referee," Alba told beIN after the game. "Even I could see it was in from the middle of the pitch. We saw the replay at half-time and it’s clear. It’s so clear.

"There can be a foul and it can be interpreted one way or another, but these moments have to be seen. [VAR] is something which will help football [in Spain] and will stop moments like this happening."

On the game, the former Valencia left-back addded: "We had control of the game but after they got the goal they could have caught us out on the counter-attack. It’s not easy to play here, Valencia are doing really well this season.

"The table shows that they can win the league, they’re one of the candidates. There’s a long way to go, but they’re second for a reason."

Aunque feliz por su importantísimo gol que salvó el invicto barcelonista, Jordi Alba, al término del partido, seguía indignado por el tanto de Leo Messi que el árbitro no quiso conceder en la primera mitad. "Es un error garrafal del árbitro. ¡Si yo que estaba en el medio del campo, he visto la pelota dentro!. Es indignante. La temporada pasada en el partido ante el Betis ya nos pasó lo mismo y quien sabe si perdimos la Liga por aquella decisión arbitral. No puede ser que el balón entre tres metros y un árbitro no lo conceda. ¡Ésto hay que verlo!'. ¿El VAR?. Lógicamente la tecnología ayudará en jugadas como ésta".

Sobre el encuentro, el de L'Hospitalet ha señalado que "hemos hecho un gran partido; jugar en Mestalla nunca es fácil para ningún rival, yo lo se bien porque he jugado aquí. Lo controlamos casi siempre. Hemos hecho una gran primera parte de la que debimos salir con ventaja en el marcador y luego, en la segunda, nos han hecho un poco de daño al contragolpe. Su gol, lógicamente, ha hecho que tuviéramos que tirarnos más arriba y, por fortuna hemos logrado, cuando menos, el empate".

Para el lateral blaugrana "está claro que el Valencia cuenta entre los candidatos. Se ha reforzado muy bien y sabe a lo que juega, Ha sido un gran rival".
