After resting against Eibar, Jordi Alba returned to the Barcelona side against Girona, setting up the first goal and producing another good performance.
He spoke to Movistar after the game and said that "it was a good match. Valverde’s managing the squad very well. All the players are responding to what he’s asking us and everything’s going well, but it’s clear that there’s still a lot of the season left.
"Practically all of us are playing, some more and some less, but that’s normal. The truth is that we’re responding very well [to his methods]."
Asked about Girona's decision to man-mark Messi, he said: "It doesn’t matter whether you put one or two men on him, with the quality he has, he can leave anyone behind. If we talk about Leo, it’s clear that ultimately, he’s very difficult to stop."
Barça won the first ever top flight derby against Girona 3-0, with two own goals and one goal from Luis Suarez. Valverde's side have six wins from their first six games and lead La Liga.
