He believed that Lucas Digne, who went off injured, should have been sent off for an elbow

Viera hit out at the Frenchman but later praised Barcelona's stars, including Lionel Messi

Jonathan Viera, Las Palmas midfielder hit out at the refereeing after the game, showing his anger that Lucas Digne was not sent off.

“They do everything right and if on top of that these little details that make the difference, like the red card for Digne, that he wasn’t shown… it makes this much more difficult.” said Viera on television after the game. “First he should have been sent off when it was Jese on his own against the goalkeeper and he did that and then the elbow on me. I don’t know if he went for my head or not.”

Digne, playing at right-back as Luis Enrique’s solution for injury and suspension problems, was already booked when he seemed to elbow the midfielder.

“Messi is the best player in the world, a lot better than the rest,” added Viera. “Madrid are having a great year but for me the best are the Barcelona players.”
