Johan Cruyff says Leo Messi would never leave Barça for "economic reasons"

Johan Cruyff does not see Lionel Messi leaving Barcelona, despite his comments to Argentine newspaper Ole last week.

For the former Dutch international, the problem with the player is "internal" and he doesn't believe that he would leave the club for economic motives.

"I'm sure that there are several teams prepared to pay €200million for Messi," Cruyff opined to Cadena Cope show 'El Partido de las 12'.

"But he won't leave for money."

And for similar reasons, Cruyff could never imagine Cristiano Ronaldo playing for Barça, citing it as an "abusrd" idea.

Neither could he see Jose Mourinho back on the bench he sat on as an assistant to Bobby Robson and Louis van Gaal.

"I don't think that Mourinho will train Barça - his style of play does not suit this club," Cruyff added.

Back on Messi, the Dream Team coach said if 'La Pulga' did ever leave, it would be for things that had nothing to do with goings on on the pitch.

"The Hacienda are investigating him every three of four years and it is annoying," he continued.

"You try to play football and enjoy it, but there are things that don't worry you, but annoy you."

On the project being undertaken by Luis Enrique, Cruyff believes that "the team are playing well, but people only value results."

Johan also spoke about former Barcelona president Nuñez's prison sentence.

"It's tough for someone his age. I can't judge, but if he has entered [prison] it is because he has done something you can't."

Finally, on the Ballon d'Or, which he won three times (197, 1973 and 1974), he said a German should win it: "Lahm is expectional and Neuer also deserves it," Cruyff concluded.
