Joan Laporta wants Unicef back on the front of FC Barcelona's shirts

As well as announcing Eric Abidal will become Barcelona's sporting director is he is elected as Barça's president next month, Joan Laporta also revealed that he wants Unicef's name back on the front of the club's shirts.

"For me, Barça is more than a club," Laporta said on Monday. "It is based on Cruyff, La Masia, Catalonia and Unicef. They are the pillars of our proposal.

"We want Unicef back on the front of the Barça shirt. It has lost its meaning on the back of the shirt.

"The choice is between Qatar and a Barça in the courts, like with [Sandro] Rosell and [Josep Maria] Bartomeu, or Unicef, with those that are clean."

Laporta was giving a presentation at his election headquarters in the Catalan city ahead of the July 18 elections. He was previously president of Barça between 2003 and 2010 and was joined on Monday by various faces.

Among them were Eric Abidal, Ludovic Giuly, Roger Grimau, Jose Ramon Alexanko, Audie Norries, Enric Masip and Roger Estreller

"I have more experience and more determination to preside over the the best club in the world," Laporta said in reference to his first stint at the top of the Catalan club.
