Jeremy Mathieu must go to Peru with Valencia... despite Barça bid

The saga of Jeremy Mathieu's move to Barcelona continues. During negotiations between the two clubs, the French centre-back has been called up to go to Peru with his squad.

Valencia boss Nuno has added him on the list with 23 team-mates for the pre-season tour in South America

Everything pointed to him staying in Valencia to finalise his move to Barca, with Catalunya Radio reporting Barcelona had agreed to pay Valencia his buy-out clause of €20million

Mathieu did not play in either of Valencia's friendlies so far, but if Barcelona do not act quickly he will have to get on the plane tomorrow and feature in the forthcoming games.

Valencia will compete in the Euro-American cup, against Atletico Madrid, Alianza de Lima, Palmerias, Fiorentina, Estudiantes and Universidad Catolica.

The French centre-back is reportedly willing to sacrifice some of his salary to get his dream move to Barca.

Barcelona did not want to stump up €20m for him, but with few other options on the market their hand was forced.

The only thing left to discuss between the clubs is the method of payment; Valencia want it up front but Barca want to pay in installments
