Javier Tebas joins the calls for Leo Messi to renew his contract

LFP president Javier Tebas has congratulated Leo Messi for his exhibition against Espanyol and said he hopes he stays in La Liga for “many seasons”. 

Tebas took to Twitter to express his opinion on Messi’s magic, despite being a Real Madrid fan. 

The La Liga chief wrote “Thanks Messi for your fantasy, your play, your commitment, your values, La Liga wants you to continue with us for many seasons.” 

Curiously Tebas was one of the people who tried to have an impact on Messi early in his career, when he was Alaves’ legal advisor and the vice-president of La Liga. He denounced Messi appearing in a game because he was Argentine and had not yet obtained Spanish nationality. His complaint was rejected by the competition committee. 

Tebas and Barcelona are not going through a good spell in their relationship, after he criticised the club’s players for their behaviour after the Valencia game.
