Jasper Cillessen suffers Christmas injury and is out for three weeks

Tests have been done on the goalkeeper and he will be out for around three weeks, meaning he cannot play against Athletic Bilbao

The truth is that luck has not accompanied Dutch goalkeeper Jasper Cillesen in his first season at FC Barcelona. On Friday the team got back together after eight days off for Christmas and Cillessen turned up with an injury to his calf which he suffered during the break.

Tests have been done on the goalkeeper and he will be out for around three weeks, meaning he cannot play against Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey, games in which he was likely to have started.

That means Lucho must choose between Jordi Masip and Marc-Andre ter Stegen to go between the sticks for the double-headed cup clash.

Cillessen did not do well on his Barcelona debut, where the team suffered a 2-1 defeat by minnows Alaves at Camp Nou.
