Ivan Rakitic could miss Clasico with calf injury against BATE

Ivan Rakitic has joined Barcelona's list of injury problems. He sustained the injury 18 minutes into the Champions League clash with BATE Borisov. Rakitic told the bench, and manager Luis Enrique, that he could not continue and Munir El Haddadi was brought on in his place.

Rakitic will now have to undergo medical tests to determine how severe his calf injury is. Reports suggest he could miss up to a month out - and that includes Barcelona's clash with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on November 21.

The club issued a statement saying he has a "small rupture in his right calf" and will miss the Villarreal game at the weekend, but didn't rule out anything beyond that.

Midfield is Barcelona's thinnest area at the moment, with Javier Mascherano suspended in La Liga too. Rakitic has also been called up by his country, Croatia, for the upcoming international break, whereas Luka Modric was rested. We will see if the Madrid man is called up in his place.
