Injury scares for Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba against la Real
The defensive duo both seemed like they needed to go off because of injuries but were able to continue to the bitter end
Barcelona’s disastrous first half against Real Sociedad could have been worse still if the scares Jordi Alba and Gerard Pique received had been worse.
The left back went down injured in the 33rd minute when battling with Carlos Vela. Alba hurt his right knee and went down in a heap but a few minutes later he was able to come back on and continue playing.
Five minutes later Pique suffered a similar blow. The defender hurt his right ankle, the one he has been recovering from injury anyway, in a battle with Oyarzabal.
Pique asked to go off but after being treated he was able to return to action and keep playing. However he needed to be treated again in the second half and was clearly playing in some pain. Hopefully that is not something that will jeopardise his participation in the Clasico.
