Iniesta: Messi is not angry about being a substitute

Andres Iniesta praised the impact of Lionel Messi after he scored the winning goal against Atletico Madrid and said that the Barça star is not upset about starting the game on the bench.

"Leo is a unique player who can make the difference, which he did once again today. I am really happy for him and for the team," Iniesta said, before saying that he doesn't believe Messi is "angry" at being a substitute. "It's normal [to be on the bench] after so much travelling [with Argentina] and all that's happened over the last few days [the birth of his second son]."

He also hailed Neymar, whose free-kick brought Barça back into the game after Fernando Torres's opener and pointed out how difficult it is to win at the Vicente Calderon: "We know these games are always the most complicated. We matched their intensity when we didn't have the ball and with the ball we were good, too.

"Despite being 1-0 down, I think we played well and the team produced a complete performance today. We feel good. You have to be really good to win here and we've done that with a really serious, complete performance. They did not have many clear chances and that means we did well in defence as well as attack. We leave happy."
