Iniesta labels Barcelona's 37 game unbeaten run as "barbaric"

Andres Iniesta had no problem admitting after the win over Getafe that Barcelona are closing in on the La Liga title.

“We’ve picked up another three points and there’s one less game to go now, which moves us closer to our objective in the league,” he said.

“We know nothing is definitive, but we are in the final of the Copa, we have La Liga really close and we are still in the Champions League. We still have work to do, though, and that’s what we will try to do.”

The FC Barcelona captain said about the team’s current run: “Thirty-seven games without losing in football at this level is barbaric.”

Next up for Barça is Arsenal in the Champions League, a game which Iniesta says will not be taken for granted.

“We go into this game with a good result and we are playing at home,” he added.

“But Arsenal are dangerous and 2-0 can be an even more dangerous result, too.

“It was perhaps a deceptive win in terms of how the game went [at the Emirates], but we will see how the second leg goes.

“We have a lot of respect for Arsenal. If we continue doing things well, we will be where we have to be.”

Luis Enrique rested Dani Alves, Ivan Rakitic, Sergio Busquets and Luis Suarez against Getafe, while Gerard Pique and Iniesta were taken off in the second half.

“The rotations are key,” Iniesta said. “The planning is one of the keys to ensuring the players remained fresh and motivated.”
