Andres Iniesta: Deportivo draw is unexplainable

Andres Iniesta was at a loss to explain how Barcelona surrendered a two-goal lead against Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday.

Luis Enrique’s side took control of the match via goals from Lionel Messi and Ivan Rakitic, but Depor scored twice in the final 13 minutes to earn a point for the second time running at Camp Nou.

“It’s unexplainable.,” Iniesta told Canal+ after the game ended.

“At the end we had even lost control of the game. When we had to find a little bit more, we lost [the control].

“We gave it to our opponents too easily when we had a 2-0 lead.

“These things happen. We have to analyse it and make sure it doesn’t happen again.

“It’s true that we’ve now lost points two weeks running, which makes the championship a little tighter.

“Two points have escaped us and we have to analyse that, like I said.”

Barça fly to Japan on Sunday to contest the Club World Cup and Iniesta insisted it’s important the players now focus on that, rather than stewing on the Depor draw.

“Now it’s time to change focus,” the Barça captain added.

“We are playing for a title [in Japan] and we have to think about the next game.”
