Hristo Stoichkov: Gaspart is why Madrid won't allow Bernabeu Copa final
Former Barcelona player Hristo Stoichkov has joined the debate over where the Copa del Rey final should be played.
He believes that former Barcelona president Joan Gaspart is the reason Florentino Perez will not allow it to be played at the Santiago Bernabeu.
"Madrid will not let the Bernabeu be used because of Gaspart," said the former Bulgarian forward on Univision.
When Gaspart was president and Barcelona won it at the Bernabeu in 1997 he played the Barcelona anthem several times over the PA.
"He put the Barcelona anthem on six times and we danced the Sardana (traditional dance in Barcelona) there," explained Stoichkov.
He also aimed a dart at Madrid, saying: "Some will have to watch another Barcelona Copa del Rey final on television".
