Mourinho is trying to explain to Neymar the need for him to sign for Manchester United for his own sporting career, because he would be under nobody’s shadow, unlike at Barcelona. Messi’s presence could hinder Neymar’s growth as a player and as an international icon, according to Mourinho. The coach is trying to convince him he can reach another dimension playing at United, where he will be able to win the Ballon d’Or.
It’s not the first time he’s tried to sign Neymar—he did so at Real Madrid too. With Florentino he made a move for the player, with DIS the company that has his rights, to take Neymar to the Bernabeu.
