The Bayern manager explained how he turned the Barça job down

He has returned to management following Ancelotti's sacking

New Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes could have been Barcelona's coach. That what he revealed on Monday as he was presented as the German club's coach after taking over from Carlo Ancelotti.

During the press conference, Heynckes revealed that "Bayern Munich have helped my career. Without Bayern, I would never have coached Real Madrid. In 1996, I had an offer from Barcelona, but I rejected it because I have never broken a contract. At that time I was at Tenerife. I always had principles."

Meanwhile, he said that "even though it's been four years since I coached, I have seen football... and not just the Bundesliga. I have seen international football, too, and I have been impressed by Madrid. It's a model to focus on."

Heynckes, who in May will turn 72, feels in condition to take charge of Bayern, who he last left in 2013 after winning the treble. "This club served as the trampoline for my career as a coach. That's been one of the reasons for my decision [to comeback]."
