Guardiola: Gerard Pique is one of the best centre-backs in the world

Pep Guardiola has spoke highly of Barcelona defender Gerard Pique and used the Spain international as an example for Manchester City's John Stones to follow.

Pique won every major honour under Guardiola's management during their time together with Barça, and the former has gone on to become of the world's best defenders appearing in the UEFA Team of the Year on four occasions.

Meanwhile, recent City signing John Stones completed his move to the Etihad Stadium for 55.6 million euros from Everton and is expected to become of English football's future stars.

"Gerard Pique is a finished product, he's one of the best centre-backs in the world," Guardiola said. "John [Stones] is a great young player with a great future ahead, but while Pique has already won everything, Stones still has a lot [to achieve]."

Guardiola has already secured one Barça player this summer as Claudio Bravo is expected to complete his move to City in the coming days, while Nolito - a former Blaugrana and target of the Catalan club this summer - finalised his transfer from Celta Vigo for 18 million euros earlier this summer.
