The left-back left the club for Portuguese side Benfica

Guardiola's Man City have been linked with a summer move

For many, letting Alejandro Grimaldo go is one of the biggest errors made by Barcelona in recent years. He wasn't one of Luis Enrique's favourites and he had little chance of playing at Barça, but he still could have been a good back-up for Jordi Alba and may be, at the very least, the same level as Lucas Digne.

Grimaldo is not at Barça anymore but has found happiness elsewhere. Now playing at Benfica, he's impressing in Lisbon but he's not sure what the future will hold. "You can't close any doors, not least one to a club like Barcelona. A lot of things can happen. But at the moment I'm with Benfica and what could come next, we will have to see. I'm really grateful to Barcelona, I spent many years there," Grimaldo said in an interview with Cadena Cope's This Is Futbol.

If they do want him, though, Barcelona would have competition. Other teams, like Manchester City, are interested in the left-back. "A lot of things come out, but I have to focus on where I am at the moment, that's the important thing. Of course it's an honour, but I have to focus on the team I am playing for, because if I think beyond that things would become difficult." Speaking of City, he said that "I had the pleasure of knowing Pep Guardiola when we were at Barcelona. I have a good relationship with him."
