Granada 1-3 Barcelona: Player ratings as Neymar flops and Suarez shines

Claudio Bravo 7 - Made an excellent save from a low, stinging Javi Marquez strike, tipping it round the post. Claimed a cross from the left superbly under pressure. Got close to saving the penalty but couldn't quite claw it out.

Dani Alves 5 - Fouled early on and was left with a bleeding nose. Quiet game thereafter. But given the depths he sometimes sinks to - e.g. against Malaga - that will suit Enrique just fine for now.

Marc Bartra 6 - Fortunate to not concede a penalty for clipping Foulquier, in the first half. But was harshly done by when he was adjudged to have tripped Lass in the second, with Fran Rico converting the spot-kick. Danger in the box aside, this was a decent enough display, making several interceptions and sticking his face where other players might not want to put their boots.

Jeremy Mathieu 6 - Not tested too much by Granada, and proved a reliable enough figure for Bartra to play alongside.

Jordi Alba 7 - Good ball over the top for Suarez with his right foot, which led to the first goal. A useful outlet on he left, but his partnership with Neymar wasn't as productive as it has been in the past. His 100th game in a Barcelona shirt.

Javier Mascherano 6 - Back where he belongs, in central midfield... until Sergio Busquets came on, and he slotted into the backline. What he lacks in technical quality he more than makes up for in willpower and grit. Won't be entirely pleased with his display as Granada strung a few more moves together than he would have liked, as the 'destroyer' figure.

Xavi Hernandez 5 - Had a shot tipped over the bar by Oier Olazabal after Suarez cut it back to him. Quiet match from the veteran, substituted for Rafinha as Enrique looked to add more energy to Barcelona's core.

Ivan Rakitic 9 - Rammed home the opener from close range after good work by Suarez. Repayed the frontman with a delectable pass to find him for the second, and sent Suarez through again for the third.

Lionel Messi 7 - Quiet first half but still nearly scored a brilliant goal, lifting a volley inches over the top left corner. Tapped home Barcelona's third after Suarez squared it despite having an open goal.

Luis Suarez 9 - Booked for clashing with Cala and throwing out his arm at the defender, but after that, pulled his socks up. Set up Rakitic's goal with a cross that was poorly dealt with. Generally looked sharper than his team-mates, netting the second goal early after the break. Played a one-two with Rakitic and knocked the ball past the keeper. Put the third on a plate for Messi, though he could have easily finished himself.

Neymar 5 - Anonymous in the opening 45 minutes. His first contribution to the game was to spoon a strike high over the bar in the second period. Booked and will miss the game against Rayo Vallecano next weekend, which is just as well as he looks like he needs a rest. Nearly created a goal for Messi towards the end but his strike partner was off-target.
