Gomes: The club know where I like to play most but I'll play where I'm told

Andre Gomes says Barcelona know where he wants to play, but that he’s happy to play where he’s put.

The Portuguese international midfielder replaced Sergio Busquets in the second half of Wednesday’s draw with Atletico Madrid, but took on one of the more advanced midfield roles against Sporting Gijon on Saturday.

“The club know where I like to play most, but I’ll play where I’m told,” he said after the five-goal win at El Molinon.

“It doesn’t matter if that’s as a pivot or an interior. I’m happy with the minutes.”

Gomes says he has no problem rotating in and out of the team and just hopes to be able to impress when Luis Enrique gives him his chances.

“I knew what was going to happen, the competition that there is in my position,” he said when asked about being in and out of the side.

“I will try to take advantage of the opportunities I’m given.”
