Gerard Lopez will be new Barça B boss if Josep Maria Bartomeu is re-elected

Gerard Lopez will be the new manager of Barça B if Josep Maria Bartomeu is re-elected as the club's president in July's elections.

Lopez, the current coach of the Catalan national team, has been chosen by ex-president Bartomeu as the man to lead Barcelona B back to La Segunda A following their relegation this season.

The Catalan, who also works for television channel TV3, knows how the club works and is also aware of the club's philosophy

He played for Barça B in 1996-97 and was a member of the first team between 2000 and 2005.

During his time as a player at the club, Gerard had a good relationship with Luis Enrique Martinez, who is now Barcelona's first team chief.

Therefore, it's expected the two would work well together, co-ordinating the use of players between the two teams.
