Gabriel Jesus continues to excel with another goal in Brazil

Gabriel Jesus continues his impressive form in Brazil. He has scored three goals in his last two appearances in the Brasileirao: On Tuesday he scored a brace against America in a 2-0 win, and early Sunday morning he scored another, in Belo Horizonte, in Palmeiras' 2-1 loss to Cruzeiro.

The 'menino prodigio' (prodigious youngster), has exploded in 2016, with 16 strikes in 30 games played. His progression has served to change opinions within the Barça technical secretary office, who now consider him sufficiently mature to make the leap to European football.

In the Brasileirao competition, he is battling to be top scorer at his tender age of 19. With seven goals in 11 matchdays, he is the most in-form striker in the country.

Again in the game against Cruzeiro, Gabriel Jesus was the best player for Palmeiras in a game in which his team was inconsistent. In the 10th minute, the youngster took advantage of a great assist by teammate Dudu, and struck a first-time right footed shot into the back of the net.

The gem of the team from Sao Paulo was dangerous every time he neared the area, making runs from the left flank. In the latter part of the game, he could only be halted by kicks and late tackles from opposition defenders.

After the game, Gabriel Jesus provided his analysis of the match: "It is very important that I continue scoring goals, as I am a striker, but this time I can not be fully happy as we have lost a game that should not have got away once we went ahead."

Ahead of the rest of the fixtures to be played this matchday, Palmeiras maintain the top spot in the league. On Thursday night, they host Figueirense at Allianz Parque stadium. It is possible that Barça technical secretary Robert Fernandez attends the match.
