Freixa: Barcelona can register a new player right now
Former director and presidential candidate of Barcelona, Toni Friexa, says the club can replace Rafinha now. According to Freixa, FIFA punished Barcelona "for two transfer windows, last winter and this summer, and that has finished." According to Freixa, the FIFA sanction is now not an excuse for not signing a player.
He says Barcelona should remove Rafinha from the registered players list because of his long-term injury, and ask the RFEF for a permit (under Article 124) to register a new player outside of the window. "FIFA, in this case, has nothing to say, because the sanction has ended," said Freixa.
Freixa says Barcelona could register Arda Turan or Aleix Vidal, but the problem is that "the club is afraid to face off with FIFA now because unresolved cases of minors at the club remain."
